Aha! Third question

Here's the third question I forgot:
3. What time do you set your alarm clock for a typical workday? The reason I ask is this: in movies and TV shows, I see people with first shift jobs setting their alarms for 8 a.m. and I'm always thinking, "Seriously? 8 a.m.? You're a police chief and your alarm goes off at 8 a.m.?" I'd be willing to bet that most people on my FL- excluding those with 2nd or 3rd shift jobs- set their alarms for somewhere between 5 a.m. and 7 a.m. Ours is set for 6:08 a.m. on weekdays, but if we're skipping the gym, we sometimes sleep in until about 6:40...

Date: 2008-11-26 03:32 pm (UTC)I leave at 8:35 and start work at 9. 8:00 is plenty of time for me to get up, shower and get dressed.

FTR: I usually crawl out of bed between 6 and 7, depending on whether I'm riding the bus or driving, and how many times I hit the snooze.

Date: 2008-11-26 05:59 pm (UTC)If I worked in a more professional setting I might have to get up at 7:30, but I can't imagine getting up much before that. I am actively dreading next school year when Britt has to be out the door even earlier, because I'm already frustrated that I have to get up a full hour before I 'need' to now to make sure she gets to school on time.

Date: 2008-11-26 05:00 pm (UTC)I set my alarm at 8 to be in the office at 9, and even that is an exercise in suck and fail. 8 AM usually means "hitting the snooze a few times and staggering out of bed at 8:20."

Date: 2008-11-26 05:46 pm (UTC)First, psychologically, I need the snooze; there's something about shutting off the alarm and going "back to sleep," even if it is for only 8 more minutes.
Second, and more importantly, I'm am most definitely not a morning person.
Last year when I was subbing, sometimes I needed to get on the computer to check for jobs, which allowed for a wide-range of "must leave by" times. And,

Date: 2008-11-27 01:31 am (UTC)I am one of those folks who can not just get up and run out the door. I get up... go to the computer room... check email/lj *then* stumble around the house for a while before I get in the shower.
For most of this week I haven't had to be in until 10 - so I have gotten up at 7.

Date: 2008-11-27 06:28 pm (UTC)Monday and Thursday, I set it to 9 and get up around 9:30.
If I work on Saturday it is 7:30, otherwise Sat and Sun I don't set an alarm unless I have to. :)
Stay tuned b/c that will all change in January and I don't know to what yet. :)
