"Kindred" by Octavia Butler. Hard to say you "enjoy" a book this emotionally draining, but once again, she makes you feel a lot for the characters whether it's hate or sympathy.

and

"The Namesake" by Jhumpa Lahiri. They made this into a movie recently, starring Kal Penn. It'll be interesting to see what they do with the book, which I'm really enjoying.

My friend wants me to read The Namesake. She's Bengali, which apparently the people in the book are as well, and said it was really good and describes their culture well or something, I can't remember exactly.

The Bengali culture, and the food as well! Makes my mouth water just from reading the descriptions of what they eat.

Oh well now I know why Mishti liked it...the girl was a cat in her last life I swear. The girl loves to eat and sleep. God I miss her. *sigh*

50 books in a year doesn't sound like much, till you realize its almost one a week. I used to read sooo much more. I'd read a book or two every weekend. But these days I'm so often off doing other things, or on this silly box.
