sarahmichigan"Kindred" by Octavia Butler. Hard to say you "enjoy" a book this emotionally draining, but once again, she makes you feel a lot for the characters whether it's hate or sympathy.
and
"The Namesake" by Jhumpa Lahiri. They made this into a movie recently, starring Kal Penn. It'll be interesting to see what they do with the book, which I'm really enjoying.
