What I've been reading

"Slowing Down to the Speed of Life" by Richard Carlson and Joseph Bailey. I re-read this nearly yearly, since it's the best self-help book I've found for dealing with anxiety and stress. The main premise is that, when we're feeling rushed, it's because of our speeded-up thinking, and the best thing we can do is to slow down and "be here now."
and
"Curry: A Tale of Cooks and Conquerors" by Lizzie Collingham. I learned a lot about Indian and British history, picked up some cooking ideas and was immensely entertained by this book, which is liberally sprinkled with recipes and illustrations. Highly recommended.
My full comments on both books here.
