Researching and writing the "Teaching Birds to Talk" article made me feel nostalgic for the parakeets I kept as a kid. I got the first one at age 10 or 11 and owned a total of four throughout my adolescence. Sadly, none but the first lived more than a couple of years. I was looking at photos of budgies and wanting to kiss their fuzzy little heads. I don't miss cleaning the bird cage, though.
