What I've been reading

I got a lot of reading done during my recent road trip, 2 books on CD, and 2 regular books.
"Hidden in Sight" by Julie Czerneda. It's the third in a trilogy of sci-fi novels featuring a shape-shifter and her good human friend. The pacing was a bit off, but I still enjoyed it.
"Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim" by David Sedaris. This was a good choice for a road trip. My favorite story is about Christmas traditions from around the world, called "Six to Eight Black Men."
"The Bean Trees" by Barbar Kingsolver. I'd read her "The Poisonwood Bible" last year and loved it. When I mentioned I wanted to read more of her stuff, I had more than one person tell me that her earlier books were quite a bit different. I get that, but I also see repeated themes about social justice. I loved this one, too. She's probably one of those authors whose entire collection of books I'll end up reading.
"Grace After Midnight: A Memoir" by Felicia "Snoop" Pearson. It's a loan from a friend, and I'm glad I'm reading it. I've read stories of people who fell into a life of crime and came out on the other side, but not so much from a woman, and a lesbian at that. It's definitely a compelling read.
