Someone tried to use the "Appeal to Antiquity" on me the other day in an argument about acupuncture. I found it wholly unconvincing.

After all, it was believed that the earth was the center of the universe for millenia as well, but that doesn't mean that the theory of "geocentrism" is correct.

(For those of you bored by my fallacy series earlier this year, don't worry; I'm not making it a regular thing, but I think it's fun to note them when I find real-life examples.)

What about those of us who would be interested in another 'fallacy' series, and didn't catch last years? :^)

You can check my "fallacies" and/or "logic" tags if you want to see what I posted previously. I probably will post fallacy examples still as I run across them, but I rarely get examples as good as this woman's were!

The fallacies series was kind of a love/hate thing for my readers. Some people loved them, and one person disliked the series so much she dropped me as an LJ friend.
