There are two main types of fallacies: formal and informal. I will almost exclusively be talking about informal fallacies. However, if you want to read up about the difference between the two and see some examples of formal fallacies (which I think are less interesting and diverse, on the whole, than informal ones), you can read this page:

While I understand the difference, I find it interesting that some of the examples they gave could also be used as examples of informal fallacies, especially Hasty Generalization ("every man I've ever met has been mortal" implies "some men are mortal").

This just might be the beginning of a beautiful friendship (i.e., I'm with ya all the way on everything there. Though I am looking at the scale as an indicator of calories in vs. calories out, at least for now. It's interesting to see what affects it.). :) ).
