So, for most of the folks on my friends list, I've gone back and skimmed large amounts of your past posts. I didn't start to do it intentionally; someone would mention something that had happened "about this time last year", so I went back to read what they'd posted this time last year, and I'd find myself reading big chunks of the journal and learning more about my LJ friends. Then, I got curious about backstory on another friend, and I'd go back and skim entries that friend had made during the couple months before I started keeping my journal.

So, question: do you find that creepy or flattering? Or neither/both?

If it's you . . .

it's flattering. I see that as a sincere effort to get to know your friends better. Some have done it and it's been kinda creepy - but creepy is as creepy does. :)

I figure anything I post where you can read it is fair game. If I didn't want you to read it, I'd hide it somehow. :)

If it's someone I know, and they just get caught up in reading, that's one thing. People who categorically sit down and read through the entire journal right after they friend someone are weird. :)

I generally do about the same thing. I consider it to be catching up.

I think it's sad - but not from your edge. I keep feeling the need to private-lock older posts. There's some (I feel) interesting stuff farther back in my journal that no one is likely to see again.

Other than that, flattering, or obvious. I enjoy a sense of context, and I just assume others do as well.

It is sort of like the mirror top of a pond. When there is deep turbulence then the waves ripple and break the reflections on top.

That is what my live journal is. The surface of the pond. Broken up by many waves.

I don't mind people looking. It may not make much sense because I don't always add proper context though.

Neither. It's something to do when you're bored. Which I am now, which is why I'm doing the same to you. ;) This turned out to be an unexpectedly boring Saturday night and I saw your message about "I friended you back but I'm weird" so I looked a little. And a little more. And if your journal reflects who you are you're not nearly as weird as you may think! Luckier... maybe.
