Bicycling

Last night wasn't technically my first bike ride of the season-- we got the bikes out once before in late April, I think.

But the first one or two rides of the season usually make my butt feel achey. Even doing the stationary bike at the gym doesn't prepare me well enough for the first real ride of the season, because I position myself differently on a real bike, and the terrain is rough and bumpy for real bike rides, unlike cycling in the gym. I've learned to start off slow, with short rides, and build up to longer ones. We were only out about 10 minutes last night.

J. wants to try biking every day (or almost every day) between now and when we go to Mackinac Island so we can bike while we're on the island. I'm skeptical because I think bringing our own bikes could be a logistical nightmare and renting them there might get pricey. But I'm Ok with more bike riding in general, since I really enjoy being active in that way.

My thighs, today, feel like they got some exercise, but they don't feel like I overdid it. And my butt feels fine. :) So, maybe 15 or 20 minutes later today.
