Dentist?

I book marked an entry on the Ann Arbor-Ypsi list about dentist recommendations, but I thought I'd solicit more from any local peeps.

My main complaint with the my previous dentist was that he was always trying to refer me to specialists or get me to do cosmetic improvements that I don't care about. I don't care if my teeth are a little on the yellow side as long as they're healthy.

If you're willing to do a bit of driving, my old dentist in Clarkston is absolutely wonderful. It's been 8 years since he was my dentist and I still miss him. His name's Dr. Vanderveen and he's located on Dixie Highway. He mentioned cosmetic things to me once in a while, but that's more because I have a large spot of discolored enamel on one of my front teeth than anything else and he thought it bugged me--once he realized it didn't, he let it drop.

Sorry this recommendation is also outside of Ypsi/A2.

My current dentist is in South Lyon, which is a totally long way away for me as well, but he rocks. Very friendly and what not.

My recommendation is in Ann Arbor! Comfort Dental, on Eisenhower. Anne & Bill recommended them to me.

I have seen Dr. Wayne Walcott on Packard Road in A2 for my entire life, and my teeth are still in my mouth. No really, he's good, and office staff are friendly (though the dental hygeinist tries to chat with you while she has her hands in your mouth, sortof annoying.)

There is a cheerful puppy poster on the ceiling for you to stare at.

We left our dentist in Domino's Farms because he was constantly trying to upsell us on expensive crap we didn't need: whitening, grinder guards (for night grinding, which I don't do), etc... we have not found a local dentist that hasn't also been a salesman.

Sucks. Makes me think dentistry is some kind of Scientology scam.
