What I've been reading
Apr. 17th, 2011 01:11 pm"Fun Home: A Family Tragicomic" by Alison Bechdel (author of the comic 'Dykes to Watch Out For'), a graphic memoir. Bechdel tells the story of how she comes out as a lesbian and finds out that her father, the town's funeral director, was also gay but deeply in the closet. Highly recommended.
and
"Who Fears Death" by Nnedi Okorafor. It's a scifi/fantasy novel set in post-apocalyptic Africa, and was recommended by a friend. The story is a tough read in some ways - some very unpleasant things happen very early in the book. However, the author constantly surprised me, and the book felt very real and very fresh. Also highly recommended.
