No- that's not gay at all...
Sep. 12th, 2006 07:15 amWe've been watching Season 2 of X-files on DVD. I'm finally now seeing some of the last episodes from the entire series that I didn't see when it first came out. For a long time, I've had the VHS series, but that just had some of, but not all of, the episodes from each season. Frankly, most of the episodes that got left of the VHS tapes were left off for a reason-- many are quite cheesy.
However, Season Two early episodes introduce the character of Alex Krycek. If you've been living in a cave since 1993, you might not know that there's a great deal of X-files slash fiction out there about a Mulder/Krycek romance. The favorite one I found (and now can't find the link for) was a long series of stories about their S&M sexual adventures; the S&M aspect makes more sense than loving, vanilla gay sex since they did have a rather violent relationship over the course of the series.
Re-watching these Season Two early episodes, I have to say that it's all Chris Carter's fault for giving the fans ammunition. Over the weekend, we saw the episode where Krycek and Mulder are paired up as a team to investigate a case (the X-files are disbanded and Scully is working elsewhere). Krycek comes to find Mulder, who is swimming in a large pool in a tiny, red speedo man-bikini. He rises, dripping from the pool, and dries himiself off as handsome Alex, in his stiff business suit, fills him in on the case and tries not to give Mulder the up-and-down. No, that's not homo-erotic at all...
