"Freakonomics: A Rogue Economist Explores the Hidden Side of Everything" by Steven D. Levitt and Stephen J. Dubner
The book explores questions like, "If crack dealers make so much money, why do they still live with their Moms?" and "Which had a bigger effect on the recent drop in crime, especially among juveniles: legalized abortion or the booming '90s economy?"

I thought it was really interesting, and while I don't take every conclusion in there for gospel truth (I'm too much of a skeptic to take much of anything minus a grain of salt), it was good food for thought. I notice the authors have a Freakonomics blog, and I may have to start reading it occasionally.

"The Art of Imperfection: Simple Ways to Make Peace with Yourself"
by Veronique Vienne and Erica Lennard. It's a short book (96 pages), with lots of photos, and great advice. How can you not love a book that suggests addressing insecurities about your body image not by weight-loss dieting but by getting regular excercise and giving Rene Descarte the finger?
