Good Night & Good Luck
Mar. 28th, 2006 11:41 amI saw this movie at the dollar theater over the weekend, and I thought it was well-done. It's good it was only about 90 minutes, because it was quiet and a little slow, and I don't think the average person could sit through a movie of ideas like that for much longer.
I liked how quiet it was, between musical interludes, just the sound of breathing, talking, shifting papers. Some movies go WAY overboard with mood music in every dang scene. I think the costuming and sets were wonderfully done, too.
Having worked as a member of the news media, I had a lot of sympathy for Murrow's concerns about the business vs. public service conflict inherent in public media. It's probably MORE prominent in TV that news gets tweaked or censored to please the advertisers, but it happens in print media, too.
