It's not your imagination. . .

SUV drivers really DO think they own the road. I know someone from another on-line venue who has done some research (yet unpublished) showing that the bigger the car, the more "rights" the driver thinks s/he has, and the more room they think they're entitled to take up.

At about the same time, the old American Motors company was making a push to market its Jeep brand as a vehicle for everyone, not just for backwoodsmen.
It's a little creepy to realize that the problem in large part originated in the building I'm now in ("The American Center", formerly the headquarters of AMC).

I only own a little SUV. Maybe that's why I don't think I've got a ton of "rights".
