Employment!

Full-time employment has been acheived, kiddies. Thanks for putting up with all my whingeing over the last few months. The place I work part-time at now is hiring me full-time next week. My benefits don't kick in for 90 days, but it's still a relief to know that health care and paid vacation is in my near future.

And in "when it rains, it pours" news, J. may also be attaining full-time (non-temp) employment at the University of Michigan in the next couple weeks. He had an interview, and they're asking him to fill out some more paperwork, so we're really, really hopeful.

Congrats!

(Is it data entry, full time? From home? Or is this the editing gig?)

It's a combination of data entry, editing and proofreading. It's the same job I've been doing from home. However, if you're hired on full-time, you have to do it on-site (darn!). I will be trained to be able to do more tasks and work on different accounts. I've already asked for a good ergonomic set-up at the office so it doesn't destroy my body.

Ah. Alas. I was really hoping there was a good data entry gig from home I could find that still had paid time off. Oh well. Good luck to you, though. Hopefully you'll find this more rewarding (and less soul crushing) than your last position.

The sad thing is that I really liked my old newspaper job up until the last 8-9 months, and it didn't get really unbearable until the last 3-4 months. I would have stayed if they'd have listened to me when I told them what I needed in terms of staffing and equipment. The current editor seems to be running it into the ground. It's too bad, because I think it was a good paper.

Yay you!

And I'll keep my fingers crossed from J., too.
