I feel the earth move under my feet
I did feel the aftershock of the East Coast earthquake yesterday, but had no idea what it was until J. called me and told me about it. I was knee-deep in a work project and hadn't looked at any news sites or social media for several hours.
I felt this weird jiggle for 15-20 seconds, but there was a loud mechanical sound outside, and I somehow convinced myself that some heavy machinery operating in my cul-de-sac was shaking the house. However, it wasn't heavy machinery but plate tectonics.
