I think that's sort of her point- there's a universal human need for belonging, for ritual, for feeling like you're doing good. I wouldn't call that "religious" in people who don't believe in god, but certainly I think even people who are diehard atheists have a need for many of the things that religion often provides (community, a moral compass, weekly or yearly rituals, etc.).
